Social Dance Etiquette




Vermont Swings hosts a weekly Practice Session every Tuesday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Champlain Club, 20 Crowley Street in Burlington. Our Practice Session is your weekly opportunity for social dancing and practice in a friendly, casual environment. Instructors are present to ask questions and work out moves and our DJs are always open to requests! NOTE: Practice Sessions may be cancelled due to weather or holidays. Please sign up for our newsletter below to get up-to-date information about our dances and events!



We host Saturday Swing dances and Tuesday Practice Session dances. See our Calendar for the current schedule.

We welcome any and all who are interested in social dancing regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or sexual orientation. Please join us on the dance floor.

We offer a free beginner swing dance lesson at 7:30pm, followed by social dancing from 8:00 - 10:30 pm. The Vermont Swings All-Star DJs will keep you moving to great music from jazz, big band and contemporary eras.

No parner necessary.

Bring a change of non-marking, soft-soled shoes to protect our wooden dance floor.

We warmly welcome Mimi and the Podd Brothers to our 2nd Saturday dance! The Podd Brothers hail from the Northeast Kingdom, and their looking forward to swinging through Burlington while their "back home."

Based in NYC, Mimi & the Podd Brothers are a fresh take on early jazz with classical trimmings and soulful underpinnings. They pride themselves on re-inventing the classics and retrograding the contemporary. Feisty, fun, soulful and honkey-tonk all at once, Mimi and the Podd brothers will take you from Harlem to New Orleans, to France and the tin-pan alley.

Celebrating their 20th year together as a band, the Starline Rhythm Boys are perennial favorites with Vermont Swings dancers with their own take on classic rockabilly and honky tonk tunes.

Free beginner swing dance lesson at 7:30pm downstairs; band plays from 8-10:30pm.

The bar will be open for beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.  Feel free to bring snacks to share.

Vermont Swings is an LGBTQS affirming community. Everyone is welcome to join and experience our dance community.

Danny Coane, the rockin' pride of Vermont, just keeps rollin'. He has fronted bluegrass, country and blues bands, but the rockabilly, rock 'n roll act "The Throbulators" gained him national exposure. Billy Bratcher holds down the beat for the trio on upright bass. He toured with Texas Juke Joint King Wayne Hancock and became well known throughout the US for mastering the unique "slap bass" style.
