Vermont Swings is an enthusiastic and inclusive community of swing dancers focusing on Lindy Hop and its related dances. We create and promote opportunities to dance together socially and non-competitively, motivated by our love of swing dance, its music, and our desire to share and teach swing dance. Our events are open to dancers of all ages to share and promote swing dancing in a relaxed, friendly and open environment.
Vermont Swings is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable experience for everyone. Therefore, all attendees, instructors, staff and volunteers are required to comply with this Code of Conduct. Board Members will enforce this code at Vermont Swings’ events and expect cooperation from all to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Declaration of Safe Space
Vermont Swings is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable experience for everyone, regardless of age, race, beliefs, nationality, creed, politics, gender or gender expression, sexual orientation, dancing skill level or role, or physical appearance or ability. We will not tolerate harassment in any form. Participants who are asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Participants in violation of these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from any event without a refund at the discretion of the organizers.
Code of Conduct Detail
Harassment includes, but is not limited to: offensive verbal comments, inappropriate images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of workshops or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwanted or unwarranted attention.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender, expulsion from Vermont Swings events, or contacting the appropriate law enforcement agency.
We value our community and strive to be welcoming to all. However, we are aware that a policy does not prevent conflict or solve problems in the moment. We encourage you to contact a Vermont Swings Board Member if you have experienced or are experiencing a situation that is difficult to handle alone. We will not rush to judgment, but we will not hesitate to act.

We know a policy can’t prevent every problem or solve one in the moment. If something makes you feel unsafe, or you’ve experienced a situation that’s hard to handle alone, please talk to a board member at any event or email us at contact@vermontswings.com.
