March- Shim Sham (Week Four)
Have you taken Beginning Swing at least once? Then you’re ready to join us!
The Shim Sham is a classic jazz line dance with deep roots in the swing and tap communities. Danced all over the world, it’s often shared at social dances as a joyful, communal moment where everyone gets to move together. It’s rhythmic, expressive, and a whole lot of fun.
In this class, Celia will guide you through the steps, timing, and musicality of the Shim Sham, breaking it down in a supportive, approachable way. If you’re curious, love jazz music, or want to expand your swing dancing beyond partnered steps, this class is for you. Come move your body, learn something iconic, and dance alongside your community!
Your class fee includes free admission to our Practice Dance that starts at 8pm right after class! Let’s practice those new moves!
- Class run from 6pm-7pm, every Tuesday
- This is a series class. Please plan to come the whole month!
- Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure time for parking and shoe changing.
- Please bring clean shoes that won’t track in grit or leave black heel marks.
- Parking is limited; plan to park on nearby streets and walk to the North Star Hall at 20 Crowley Street.
