March- Shim Sham (Week Two)

Have you taken Beginning Swing at least once? Then you’re ready to join us: let’s do the Shim Sham!
Join Celia as we review the history of this iconic solo jazz routine and learn it step by step in a class designed for beginners with no prior experience. The Shim Sham was created in 1932 and is a popular routine performed socially at lindy hop events and dances around the world. It features foundational solo jazz steps that will support your development of rhythm, musicality, and community in both solo and partner dancing. Curious to see a sneak peek?

Your class fee includes free admission to our Practice Dance that starts at 8pm right after class! Let’s practice those new moves!
- Class run from 6pm-7pm, every Tuesday
- This is a series class. Please plan to come the whole month!
- Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure time for parking and shoe changing.
- Please bring clean shoes that won’t track in grit or leave black heel marks.
- Parking is limited; plan to park on nearby streets and walk to the North Star Hall at 20 Crowley Street.
