Classes & Workshops

Check out our current and upcoming dance classes listed below. Students taking any weekday class can attend our Weekly Tuesday Open Dance for FREE.

What class should I take?
Beginning Swing is different every month.  You will learn swing dance footwork, rhythms and partner connection, and we will build your dance skills throughout the month.  We encourage people to take these classes for 1-6 months.
Other classes expect you to be familiar with the skills learned in Beginning Swing.  If you are not sure if you are ready for a class, check in with the instructor or email us to ask.  Our other classes include a rotation of Lindy Hop Fundamentals, Continuing Lindy Hop and Special Topics (like Charleston, Collegiate Shag or Solo Jazz)

Country 2-step - March
Mondays  Mar 4 - Mar 25
7:00pm - 8:00pm
  • Click Here For Class Description

Country 2-step or Texas 2-step, is a 6-count partner dance (confused by the numbers already? It's not as bad as it seems) that travels around the outside of the dance floor.  There are variations of the 2-step, and we'll teach the style that is similar to single step 6-count swing (its okay if you don't know what this means, all will be revealed).  This class is great if you've never danced before or if you've taken other dance classes.  Along with the basic steps, rhythm and partner connection, we'll learn how to smoothly transition from 2-step into swing and back again by the end of this 4-week series.  We'll use both country and rock-n-roll music to kick up our heels and dance!

Please give yourself 10-15 minutes before class time to find parking off Crowley St., change your shoes, and get checked in and perhaps warm-up a bit before class starts.

No partner or dance experience needed.

Register on this page to let us know you're coming!

    Teachers: Jean Elizabeth and Rich

Cost: $15/week ($10 student) or $50 ($30 for student) for series if paid at the first class.

Shoes: While leather-soled western boots are traditional footwear, any clean, non-marking, smooth soled shoes are appropriate to wear on our wooden dance floor.

Parking: Please park on North Ave or other side streets, as we like to be good neighbors and leave parking on Crowley to residents of that street.

Looking to level up your Lindy Hop? Luc and Olga are teaching four (4) drop-in Intermediate Lindy Hop courses in March on Mondays at 7:15pm. Through lindyhop patterns and working with different tempos these classes will focus on improving quality of movement, connection and dancing at faster speeds.

The prerequisites for this course include:
    - You can comfortably demonstrate at 140 beats per minute the skills presented in both Lindyhop Fundamentals (level 1) and Continuing Lindyhop (level 2): Open basic, circle, swingout, arm tension, partner connection, and some common beginning moves such as passes, tuck turns, etc.
    - You are comfortable flowing between 6 and 8 count
    - You have an into-level understanding of musicality and how it applies to dance
To meet these skills, you have likely been dancing Lindy Hop for at least 6 months, possibly a 1 year or more. Unsure if you are ready? Ask a VT Swing Instructor to check in, we’d love to help you find the best fit!

Continuing Lindy Hop - March

Tune up and embellish your swing outs!  If you took Lindy Hop Fundamentals in February, then this is the right class for you.  You should know the eight-count footwork and be able to do a swing out from open, swing out from closed and lindy circle.  We'll build your repertoire of Lindy Hop moves while focusing in on the connection and musicality that make this dance so much fun.

This class will be in the smaller downstairs Oak Room, so there will be a limit to class size.   Pre-registration is necessary to assure a spot.   Please notify us if you register, and find that you won't be able to attend so we can open your spot to another student.
