Intro Swing
Tuesdays  Aug 3 - Aug 17

    What is swing dancing? Each week we'll go from the very beginning and work on the groove and connection that make swing dancing such a fun and versatile dance. This is a class for new dancers to give you a taste of swing and get you out on the floor. Come to one class or come each week to build more confidence with foundational skills.

    Location: Oak Room (downstairs)
    Cost: $10/$5 with valid Student ID (includes 2 hour practice session after class)

Rotational Flow

    A great swing dance needs good flow between movements. We'll talk about how leads and follows can pay attention to each other and make use of the rotation from one movement to flow into the next.  This is a class meant for dancers familiar with partner connection and 6 count footwork.

Solo Charleston/Jazz

    Shy about partner dancing? You don’t need one for this class! We will learn a few basic steps from the roaring 20s jazz era and a string them together as a short routine. No dance experience necessary.

    The Charleston originally came from African American communities, and was made popular by Broadway. It was considered scandalous, joyful, and exuberant!

Intro to Balboa

    Balboa is a close embrace, fast-paced partner dance that originated on the Balboa Peninsula of Southern California in the 1920s when ballrooms were so jammed packed with people, there was very little room to dance to the big bands of the era. This class will breakdown the basic steps and toss in a few moves so that next time a fast song plays, you won't have to sit it out!

Intermediate/Advanced - Fancy Spins and Turns

    A set of tuck turns and fast spins for both the leader and follower that can be incorporated into 8-count Lindy Hop or 6-count Swing styles. Students need to be comfortable with either Lindy Hop or a 6-Count swings style, and be balanced enough to make fast spins.  No partner required.
