Intro to Lindy Hop
Tuesday Aug 16
6:30pm - 7:30pm
  • Click Here For Class Description

Lindy Hop was invented by African Americans in Harlem in 1928, and is all about joy, improvisation and individuality, just like the jazz it evolved with.  Just like jazz music has certain scales that allow for improvisation within the music, so Lindy Hop has certain basic moves and footwork from which to spring from - the Lindy Swing Out and Lindy Circle.  We'll cover the basic 8-count footwork and these two iconic moves, then you'll really know why "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing"! This a great opportunity to learn a new role (lead/follow) if you're confident with the role you usually dance.

    Teacher: Jean Elizabeth
    Pre-requisites: None
    Cost:$15/$10 (student with ID)
    Location: Champlain Club upstairs ballroom
