Classes & Workshops
What class should I take?
Beginning Swing is different every month. You will learn swing dance footwork, rhythms and partner connection, and we will build your dance skills throughout the month. We encourage people to take these classes for 1-6 months.
Other classes expect you to be familiar with the skills learned in Beginning Swing. If you are not sure if you are ready for a class, check in with the instructor or email us to ask. Our other classes include a rotation of Lindy 1, Lindy 2, and Special Topics (like Charleston, Collegiate Shag or Solo Jazz)

This four-week series is designed for absolute beginners who have always wanted to try dancing to swing music without a partner! Solo jazz is a name commonly used by swing dancers to describe solo dance movements that are a part of the original jazz dances created in African-American communities during the late 1800s through mid 1900s, to jazz and swing music. We'll cover the fundamental solo jazz moves, from basic steps to rhythm variations, all while focusing on musicality, expression, and improvisation. Whether you're new to solo jazz, new to dancing in general, or just looking to improve your solo dancing, this class will provide you with the tools to confidently shine on the dance floor. No prior dance experience is required—don’t be shy—this is the perfect place to start!
